Katherine Rivas is an Venezuelan flutist with international acclaim, recognized for her virtuosity, artistic sensitivity, and deep commitment to music education.
Trained from an early age in the renowned National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela (El Sistema), she has forged a solid career as a soloist, orchestral flute major, and teacher of new generations.

From the age of 8, she displayed exceptional talent that led her to become the principal flute of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, sharing the stage with figures such as Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, and Daniel Barenboim. She has participated in more than 20 international tours, appearing in iconic theaters such as Carnegie Hall (New York), the Salle Pleyel (Paris), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), and the Royal Albert Hall (London).
As a soloist, she has performed repertoire ranging from Mozart to Villa-Lobos, including contemporary premieres and critically acclaimed recordings.

Her performance of Mariachitlán by composer Juan Pablo Contreras was nominated for a Latin Grammy, as was her participation in the album Fiesta, with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, under the Deutsche Grammophon label.
In the academic field, Katherine has trained hundreds of young flutists through her role as an instructor at the Latin American Academy of Flute and Piccolo, serving as a judge at national auditions and as a guest professor at institutions in Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Her work has been recognized by multiple institutions and media outlets.
She has received awards such as First Place at the Venezuelan National Flute Competition, the Bärenreiter Urtext Prize at the ARD Competition in Munich, and has been recognized for her excellence in recordings, tours, festivals, and artistic training.
